Phil Sheppard

Phil Sheppard is a technology and people leader with a wealth of experience in end-to-end telecoms, which he brings to his consulting role at Clear Technology. Phil is experienced in developing strategy and architecture to provide industry-leading levels of customer experience, performance and economics. He has led vendor selection and contracting for multiple significant technology deals, including virtualised core network and 4G/5G RAN.

Phil is a positive people leader, coach and effective communicator with the ability to translate complex technology into clear messages. He has spoken at many conferences and events and was recognised in the Mobile Power 50 in 2019 as a significant industry influencer.

He has worked frequently with government and regulatory authorities, including Ofcom, helped Three acquire 4G and 5G spectrum, and was an alternate board director at DMSL for six years.

Phil spent 19 years with Three, from the start of building the UK’s first and largest 3G mobile network in 2000. He led end-to-end strategy, architecture and design across devices, radio, core network and IT, spanning 3G, 4G and 5G technologies. Before this, he worked at BT Labs for 14 years on a wide range of R&D projects, including digital transmission and IP multimedia.
